Enhancement of the rate boiling heat transfer, a critically significant need across range industrial transport processes, can be achieved by introduction surface microstructures. However, precise mechanism such enhancement is not definitively understood. We establish microlayer evaporation from imbibed liquid layer underneath growing vapor bubbles as key in transfer coefficient for microstructured surfaces. experimentally characterize nucleate performance on silicon surfaces custom-fabricated with controlled microstructures using HFE-7100 working fluid. then undertake an analytical prediction surface.
